What Equipment Do I Need for P90X2?

Article by Chris Balmert

There is no hiding it, I am super excited about P90X2 launching this winter! It's going to absolutely shock my muscles with all new workouts using all new equipment. It's obvious that this program is going to absolutely sell like crazy and there is no doubt that there will be a backorder situation for those who didn't pre-register for it!

I have been receiving tons of messages from my customers wondering if P90X2 is going to be similar to the original P90X fitness program. Well, yes and no. Now the original P90X was hard, but P90X2 is similar to the intensity of Insanity Asylum, but in a different way of course. Insanity Asylum is mostly cardio based, and P90X2 is going to be the complete package, containing both intense cardio and resistance training. This is what will push you to the limit and the results will show quicker!

Back to the million dollar question, "What equipment will I need for P90X2?" Let me explain first, though, that I'm sharing with you all the equipment that I used in the video and what I've seen from watching the other workouts, and there might be a few things that I'm missing, but I'm almost sure this is all the P90X2 equipment needed.

P90X2 Equipment :

P90X Pull-Up Bar. Yeah, you're going to be using this just as much as in the original P90X, except this time, you're going to be doing some crazy pull-up exercises! Start preparing yourself now!

Free Weights. Yes, free weights! I recommend dumbbells for the best results. I've been using free weights since I've start P90X and since then, I've gained close to 17lbs of lean muscle mass. I would not have these same results with only exercise bands. Dumbbells are definitely a necessity in P90X2!

Balance Ball. P90X2 really focuses on balance and the core, and one piece of equipment that you will be using quite often is a balance ball.

Medicine Balls. Again, balance and core strength is a key focus in the new P90X 2 program, so you will be using medicine balls quite often as well. In fact, the first exercise in the new Shoulders & Arms workout involves 2 medicine balls. This is going to be nuts!

Yoga Mat. If you are taking your P90X2 on the road with you or don't have a fluffy carpet, then you're going to definitely need this one for some added cushion while you're on the ground.

Foam Roller. Yes, this is a real piece of equipment. It's a soft, cylinder like piece of equipment that allows you to massage sore muscles. It's an interesting addition to this new program!

Plyo Box. You won't be jumping onto this, so technically a chair will work just fine.

Weighted Bar. Not 100% necessary, kind of an odd addition to this workout but can be used very uniquely.

There might be more P90X2 equipment, but these are the ones that i know of. As in the first P90X, this doesn't mean this is what is absolutely necessary, and I'm sure they're going to talk about good substitutes like resistance bands and what not.

Also, when you order P90X2, you'll have the option to chose from three individual packages; Basic, Deluxe and Ultimate. Depending on what package you order, you can receive a lot, if not all of, this equipment with you P90X2 order.

P90X2 is going to be a very intense program, and is not something you're going to want to jump right into if you haven't worked out in a long time. I highly recommend to fully finish a round of P90X or a round of Insanity. Otherwise, you will struggle keeping up with Tony and the crew! The P90X2 release date is going to be somewhere around December 1st, 2011.
