Question by : Yoga techniques that enhance abs?
Are there any? My physical activity now consists of moderate to hard swimming for 1 1/2 hours three days a week. I also go on irregular walks, and I like to roller blade, but I haven't done much of that since it has started to snow.
What other workouts will I need to add to achieve visible abs?
Please add yoga routines or other exercise routines that involve little material items (such as treadmill, elliptical, etc.- I do have weights and a stationary bike, in addition to a regular bike. I do have a YMCA membership that is in biking distance in the summer, car in winter)
Also, would hula- hooping/ jump roping help?
I just want a nice looking stomach and keep myself healthy.
Other good eating habits?
5 ft 5, 13 yrs old, 154 lbs.

My first stop would be wikipedia or google for a quick reference. I actually had a similar question not even 5 days ago, but I couldn't find the answer. If it's possible, try getting help from someone with more knowledge/experience/expertise, like a professional if it's possible. This can be pretty important.
I saw a forum with this online, but I didn't have time to read it all. Try checking it out. I want to help out more, but I'm not 100% sure about the answer. Sorry I'm not much help. I hope you found your answer! Good luck!

I have heard a lot about yoga recently, and there are two reasons people seem to like it. It is a extraordinary form of exercise, and it is also presumed to be excellent for clearing your mind and learning how to relax. I've had an inkling about getting into yoga quite a few times but I haven't quite gotten there yet. I'm still dreaming of it though, and I do hope to start soon, and I hope to make it something that I can do with my daughter. She may not understand what it is, but I am hoping it will help her in the same way that I hope it helps me.
What I have learned so far is that there is more to it then just bending, stretching, and holding poses. If you do want to start a program, you should search the Internet for info about yoga. If you want to get your children involved, you do have to keep certain safety issues in mind. As I was learning about yoga for my daughter, I wrote an article on it because I found a lot of data that perhaps not a lot of people know.
You can gather data all over the Internet, but you can also come across it via a class or a DVD if you want to. There are a lot of resources out there and you have to decide what is best for you. If you have the time, a yoga class might be just what you need, even if you only go for a few months, so that you know what you are doing. You might want to learn about yoga by getting a beginners DVD to show you the ropes. Do whatever works best for you and your schedule.
One of the things that I have come across is that there can be some embarrassing moments, but you will just have to get past them. I actually don't even know if it is true or not, but I have read that some of the poses can cause you to pass gas involuntarily. If this happens to you, you shouldn't perturb about it too much. Anyone that knows anything about yoga should already know what to expect, and you may discover that you aren't the only one doing it anyway. If that really bothers you just do your yoga at home.
