This P90X review is from someone who has recently completed the P90X program... me! P90X is also known as Power 90X. It is an intense series of DVD workout tapes designed to get you into the best overall shape of your life in just ninety days.

Power 90X consists of 12 DVD exercise discs, a nutrition plan that is over 100 pages long, and a fitness guide that explains the theory behind P90X.

This is a serious workout system that will require your complete dedication in order to achieve the results you desire. With this system, you will be working out for around a hour six times per week. The program consists of three weeks of intensive exercise followed by a recovery week. This is followed by another three weeks and a recovery week. It continues in this pattern until the ninety days are completed.

Each of these three week periods is characterized by a change in exercises. This reason for this change is so that your muscles can never get used to what you are doing. This is the famous "muscle confusion" principle that leads to such impressive gains.

The twelve DVD exercise programs are as follows.1. Chest and Back- This is an hour of push ups and pull ups with some resistance training thrown in. It is a surprisingly fun and challenging hour workout.

2. Plyometrics- This workout consists of many different jumping exercises. It is exhausting. I felt this workout really helped me the most. It seemed to give me back my athleticism.

3. Shoulder and Arms- This workout concentrates on the biceps, triceps, and the deltoids. I found it to be a fairly easy and effective day.

4. Yoga X- This ninety plus minute workout is unbelievable. I know that I received amazing benefits from this session, but I dreaded it. You need to come mentally prepared for this session!

5. Legs and Back - There are a lot of lunges and squats during this session. I have a surgically repaired knee, so I needed to be careful during this workout. Fortunately there are safe variations to the exercises if you have knee concerns.

6. Kenpo X- To me, this session was like play. It was an intense workout using kenpo karate moves, but I really got into these sessions and had a blast.

7. X Stretch- I have never stretched like this before! This is amazing. Almost an hour of totally stretching every muscle in your body. You feel like a new human being once you complete this session.

8. Core Synergystics- The core muscles of your abdominals and lower back tie your whole body together. This session strengthens your core and gives your total body a workout.

9. Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps- This session really helps develop your upper body. It's a fun and challenging workout that takes about an hour.

10. Back and Biceps- In this workout you constantly move back and forth from your biceps to your back. The time went by quickly during these sessions.

11. Cardio X- This session gives your heart and cardiovascular system a good, safe workout. I found it to be an energizing workout.

12. Ab Ripper X- This is a short session added to your other workouts a couple of times per week. It's a fast paced, challenging session that really works your abs.

To sum it up, P90X is a challenging workout program. You need to be serious and dedicated to successfully complete the program. If you bring the determination and right mind set this program can really transform your physique and overall fitness.
