History of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy
Article by Kevin Scott
Movement exercise techniques in association with massage therapies has been a part of the alternative medical care practice since the earlier centuries. It is highly believed on most of the therapeutic massages' principles that life is motion and that whenever something begins to become stagnant, health flies away and is replaced with various health problems. There are quite a number of massage techniques that includes essential elements that conducts and teaches movement during therapy sessions.
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is a therapy that has been developed for almost forty years ago as a treatment for the restrictions or eventual lost of motion and flexibility in the physical body of a human being. The treatment is done through the combined elements of Yoga and contemporary body-mind psychology that are popular for their efficacy in delivering a successful alternative medical care program.
Almost most of the massage therapies are either derivations or combinations of various techniques and essential elements from the former or predecessors of many massage methods. However, these are more advantageous as they enhance the usual treatment capacity and capability of the former therapies.
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy or PRYT was developed by Michael Lee in the 1980s from his multiple work experiences with many one-on-one treatments. Michael moved to the United States of America in 1984 to study at the Kripalu Center where he had Yoga training and was later on added as a member of the medical care institution. He also taught at many of the training programs where he was given the opportunity and privilege to hone his skills and ideas regarding the proper use and importance of the technique. Eventually in that same year, he was able to materialize his idea of using Yoga with psychology. However, it was not until 1986 when he was able to conduct his first PRYT training program that was held in Trenton, New Jersey. Although he only had a very small number of participants during those special days that lasted for six weekends, the result did not discourage him but challenged him instead. Later that year, a level 1 and 2 program was devised to help with the overall massage training program as well as with the marketing of the natural treatment. By 1988, the training program had their first group of graduates from level 3. At the start of the 90s, hundreds of enrollees flocked the training school of Michael as more and more people were becoming aware of the health benefits, effects, and capabilities of the program. Since then, many people including therapists from other conventional massage therapies began to study the natural healing art.
Today, the therapy has helped thousands of patients who are in need of a good medical treatment for the complete recovery of their conditions as well as for people who wants to maintain a healthy body and mind. It has spread the good news to many parts of the United States and has now been effectively treating on some parts of the world in many countries.
