It is thought that green tea speeds up this process and helps to burn more calories at a higher rate. This then leads to a reduced amount of fat stored in the body. In addition to EGCG, green tea contains caffeine. Caffeine by itself also stimulates the process of thermogenesis. This means that by combining these two components, the body's metabolism is jumpstarted and burns even more extra calories. Further research on green tea has shown that the tea may also help the body to block fat absorption from certain types of food. Green tea may also regulate blood sugar levels, which may help to suppress the appetite. Another inexpensive diet (free in fact) that has been shown to yield some results is the fasting diet. Although this diet is not recommended by dieticians or those in the health care field, many people believe that fasting for a couple of days can help the body rid itself of stored up fat and calories. Caution should be used when fasting due to side effects such as light-headedness, low blood sugar, dizziness, headaches, and nausea. Plenty of water should be consumed while fasting.

Finally, quite possibly the best of the cheap diets that work fast is good old-fashioned exercise. While many people would prefer a quick fix, or a simple pill, the truth is exercise is a tried and true, effective method for weight loss. You do not need to spend a great deal of money on special equipment or even join a gym. Taking a simple walk, jog, or run around your neighborhood for just thirty minutes three to four times per week can provide wonderful results. Purchasing a specialized exercise DVD such as yoga or pilates instruction can keep you interested and motivated while costing very little. Do not be afraid to try several different activities until you find one that you can stick with. Finding something you enjoy and that keeps you focused gives you the best chance at sticking with a program to help you achieve your overall goals.
