Question by : Am I sore because of Yoga?
I recently started doing Yoga about a week and a half ago. Since that time my body has become sore. I don't feel any physical changes in my body except for piece of mind and better breathing. I've been doing it 7 days a week for 30-60 mins a day. Usually Sundays, I just do pranayama exercises in shavasana or lotus position.
Is this normal to feel this way in the beginning? At my pace when should I see results? I've been interchanging a couple of beginner DVDs by Rodney Yee and Rainbeau Mars and find them to be great teachers. I don't necessarily want to be ripped or flexible from Yoga. I just want a strong core and arms and better peace of mind. So I find that Mars gives me better peace of mind with simpler poses for flexibility and Rodney really challenges me with his power Yoga postures.
It's mostly muscle soreness in my legs, hips, shoulders, and neck. No real joint or back pain. I eat a fairly healthy diet as I'm a vegetarian and I've been cutting down on my fat and salt consumption substantially. I find that if I eat a protein packed meal after a workout I feel better. A couple of times I made a stirfry with chickpeas, spinach, kale, peppers, salt, pepper, in olive oil and it feels light and just right.
Best answer:
as long its not your back or your joints aren't the ones hurting, yes normal.
