Question by : 80lbs of weight loss time frame?
I know no one can give me a definite time frame or anything, but I would like to have an idea how long it will take me lose about 80lbs. I am 23, 195 lbs, 5 ft 2 in. I am starting my workout/diet now. I plan to either go to the gym and use the elliptical or treadmill for 30 mins 5 days a week on my lunch, or walk/jog outside on nice days. Then on Mon, wed, fri I plan to hit the gym after work for my weight workouts (upper and lower body) and then another 30 mins of cardio. Tues, thurs after work I will do an ab workout and maybe a yoga dvd at home. I am eating about 1200-1500 calories a day, eating 3 small meals and snacks in between. All healthy foods. I was thinking of trying a spin class on tues and thurs mornings, but I heard those are killer and I am afraid I am too out of shape to be able to handle it and I don't want to look stupid by not being able to keep up.
If my plan isn't regimented enough....what do you suggest?
Best answer:
You can presuppose a weight loss of about two pounds per week. Shifting 80 pounds will take almost a year (about 40 weeks). If you're a woman, probably slightly more.
However, remember that while you're losing fat, you're gaining muscle. The "you" that exists after this hypothetical year will look FAR different than you do now - and your waist will shrink quite dramatically just in a couple of months.
