Yoga?? Where can I start?


Question by **************: Yoga?? Where can I start?
I'm a college student and going to be off for a month for x-mas break so... rather than be a coach potatoe I wanted to do something productive, that could relax, and make me feel better :). So I need some help on where to start... what dvd(s) are good, what will I need? I wanted to do yoga maybe some pilates? any suggestions are greatly appreciated

Well, a good starting place until you pick up a DVD is Youtube. You can find videos of yoga classes on there, study them a little while you practice positions and then go off on your own with dim lights and soft music (or complete silence). I recommend doing it that way because then you can get comfortable before making a purchase. You'll find that you go through the beginners tapes quickly then that's just money you've wasted. Start the beginners on youtube then purchase more advanced videos in a couple of weeks.
You can buy a ball and mat at target. Wear very soft comfy clothes that aren't too tight but not baggy, at all. I recommend cotton capri pants and a fitted tank top.
