Yoga - Side Plank Advanced - Women's Fitness
Yoga - Side Plank Advanced - part of the women's fitness video series by GeoBeats. Today I am going to show you an advanced variation of the side plank pose. It is called vasisthasana, as taught by Dharma Mittra. So, we will come into the plank position, legs straight out behind the body. Bring the right hand a little bit toward the center of the mat and turn the body. Bring the left toe all the way back. Turn the sole of the right foot at a 45 degree angle down toward your mat, so you have extra strength for balance and extra platform. Right. Lift the hips all the way up, looking up toward the left thumb. If you can, you start to lift the left leg up, taking hold of the knee and lifting the hips. From there, you are free to grab the foot. Stretch the leg all the way up and start to lift and open the hips. To come out, release the leg gracefully. Return back to the plank pose and you may go to the other side, or come down and rest for a moment before practicing on the other side. This posture helps to strengthen the whole body, create flexibility in the shoulders and the spine, and the core of the body.

Kundalini Yoga - Dynamic Bow Pose - Women's Fitness
Kundalini Yoga - Dynamic Bow Pose - part of the women's fitness video series by GeoBeats. Kundalini Yoga - Dynamic Bow Pose Hi, I am Kelly with Karuna Yoga. Today, we are going to take a Dynamic Bow Pose. Now bow pose is like an overall tune up for the body, it is wonderful to open up the flow of energy through the spine and to open up the chest and the heart and that helps with our immune system, thymus gland. So, let's start on the belly and lets have our arms by our sides and just chin on the ground. Bend the knees, reach back and take the tops of the feet. Now when we come up into bow, we want the knees to stay inline with the hips, not wider. We are going to root the hips to the ground and press the tops of feet into the hands and just let yourself come up slowly as you inhale. Now exhale and bring it down, let's bring the forehead on to the mat. And again we go, sink the hips to the ground, press the tops of feet into hands, arms lengthen and chest open. Exhale it down. And one more, le'ts breathe in, nice wider through the spine and exhale down. So releasing the feet and just taking yourself up on to your forearms. Breathe in and breathe out.

Question by Notlob83: Yoga/pilates for overweight women?
What is a good yoga--or some other similar aerobic exercise--workout routine that might be good for both overweight and normal weight women? Maybe something on Wii Fit?
Best answer:
Yoga is not an aerobic activity. It focuses on flexibility, not cardiovascular endurance. Pilates is not cardio either - it's toning/strengthening and flexibility. Cardio exercises are the ones which get your heart really pumping, like running, cycling, cross country skiing, etc. Some cardio activities which may be more suitable to those who are extremely overweight would be swimming (extra weight doesn't work against you and your joints nearly so much in water), walking, and to some degree cycling (you're at least off your feet so there's less impact). Those who are overweight don't necessarily need to restrict themselves to these activities, but they may find them easier to keep doing for the recommended 30-60 minutes.
Yoga Pants: The Real Story
Article by Shelli Gabriella
Since their popularization in the 6th century (BC) by Iranian horse riders, trousers, generally referred to today as pants have made their way from Iran to Greece, from Central Asia and India to Europe and finally to the Americas and beyond. Once a privilege and symbol of standing, power and wealth to the noblemen and women of the day, pants have evolved from a luxury to a need. They are now a world wide phenomena, accessible to almost every man, woman and child of any socio-economic status on the planet.
Whether to serve an utilitarian purpose or to create a fashion statement each and every pair of pants has a point and a purpose and a place in our hearts. Some are designed to withstand elements, others environments. The way you look at the office is different than how you look at the club and your pants can make or break it. You may not be able to judge a book by its cover, but what about a person by their pants.
Every single pair has had their moments in history, their times of glory and others have epically failed. Some have reached a novelty status. Remember bell bottoms? What were they thinking? Even so many have tried, few have survived. It's really and quite literally a survival of the fittest. Corduroy, capris, chaps, boot cut, slim fit, khaki, business, casual, business-casual, wool, cotton, skin tight, rayon, leg warmers, sequence, jogger, and, let us never forget MC. Hammer pants. That was a man of magnificent pants!
There is one, however, a hidden gem, or, diamond in the rough if you will, in this world of the seemingly countless leg coverings that has perhaps endured the longest and has for centuries passed under the radar. Possibly it's because they have never demanded to be known. For a great number of years these britches were worn in private and rarely ever saw the light of day. Though some may have concealed them away they were never a secret. I'm talking about Yoga pants. Yoga pants are the new sex. They have been in the corner of everybody's mind since time immemorial, everybody's been talking about them, about them, wanting them, living their lives just to get one simple fitting, just one leg slipped into a nice, soothing cottony, spandexy or blended pair of decadently comfy Yoga pants or other Yoga apparel.
Now, thanks to I Love Yoga Brand, Yoga apparel and clothing are now something to be proud about, to share with your close friends. You can be the Yogi you want, walk amongst the crowds in style, in fashion. You can say C'est la vie to secrecy. You can wear your Yoga Pants loud and proud, parading down the streets screaming "I love Yoga, and I love my Yoga Pants. Yoga is not a crime". Or you could possibly just wear your Yoga clothing and accessories and carry on on as you have. It's up to you.
