Question by foxytoxin: need some help on picking yoga that works for me?
I don't intend to sound mean, but I don't want any half assed answers because i'm not going to take my body and health in a half ass mannor. i've never been much into yoga but from just clicking around the internet....I've found that there's tons of different types. The type I'm looking for is sort of like budokan minus the martial portion. The movements were really fun. I really need movement that chalanges my muscles and transitions so i'm just stuck on one place forever. Also...I'm not really the meditative type. for me, strangely enough, moving my body is calming while sitting and breathing.....isn't my thing.
Anyway, if you think that you have a style that fits me, I need the name and a small summary.

I think you might like Vinyasa yoga. This type of yoga flows from one pose to another. You are not in any pose for very long - but you work up a sweat because you are really moving from pose to pose. It is important to already know proper alignment in the poses, because you are not in poses long enough to correct.
I would also recommend Anusara yoga. This yoga varies from teacher and the level of class. In more advanced classes there is some flow between poses. Poses are held longer, and I find it very challenging (and muscles are sore the next day!)
Good luck.
